Post  mwrmoore on Fri Jun 05, 2009 12:43 pm

No entirely bike related but i'm running a bit event at the Science Museum in Wroughton on the 12th and 13th Septemeber, among other interactive stuff our reserve collections will be open (complete with a large collection of vintage bikes and some slightly newer ones) and a VMCC sprint day on the run wasy too. Be great to see some of the folks on the forum come along.

Cheers
Matt

Oh wow.

Thanks for posting this.

However I always wanted to go there because you guys have the stuff that London cannot fit in, but sadly Simon is due to be born around that time, which is a shame as Leuchars Airshow is on the 12th September and it is the retirement of the Tornado F.3's.

However I understand that you have a few noteworthy airframes such as the De Havilland Comet [G-APYD] there, or has that moved on ? And a V-2 Rocket and rumour has it that a C-47 Dakota [N473DC] is stored there as well. Amongst an RAF Meteor and a Luftwaffe Komet [191316].

I'm off to Royal Navy Air Station Yeovilton on the 10th July for the Photocall, the Airshow on the Saturday and visiting the Royal Navy Aircraft Museum on the Sunday, however Cobham Hall which holds the reserve collection of 30 very rare aircraft is not open at the weekends. I approached the director to ask if my dad and I could have a personal tour, but sadly that isn't possible.

I used to work at Kembrey Park in Swindon with Thames Water, and possibly this year looking to spend a week day at RAF Lyneham.

I will have to get in touch with you.
