Rear indicators

Rear indicators
On my SV, I have some long Arrow rear indicators.
On the ride out with Tim, my Right bulb blew.
Went to Halfords to get a replacement, brought a bulb based on the info given on the old bulb.
£4.99 for one bulb. Went to fit it, and it wouldn't fit, as the 2 prongs on the bayonet fitting were at 90 degree angles 12 o clock and 3 o clock position.
Couldn't see because of the packaging. So anyway found the actual same ones as the prongs are 12 o clock and 4 o clock .
2 for £5.99 and it fitted.
Come to put the outer casing on, and it was too tight, and I ham fisted the fitting and snapped off most of the fitting.
So the indicator is still working, just a bit limp.
Halfords have a replacement set which is shorter in length.

However Hein Gericke have the same indicatos that I have fitted at £9.99 each.

Found these on Ebay from M&P but £6.95 postage.... They can sod off

Banditmania did have a bargin bin in the shop with loads of rear indicators.
However their Sharkfin ones are £19.56
My current ones have corroded really badly, so I was going to replace them anyway.
I did have the combined rear light and indicator light, but had a bad earth. And I still haven't been back to BM to get a new one fitted, as I had my indicators spliced in for extra safety, as Number6 said that when he had the kit, no one took notice.

Re: Rear indicators
Well I have put some black gaffer tape around the bits that have snapped.
It is holding well, and will keep the rain out of the electrics, as the weather forecast for the rest of the day is pants.
Leaving work at 7 this evening.

Re: Rear indicators
Guess what.
The left indicator went today 8 miles away from home.
Put the other bulb in that I got out of the pair I brought on Sunday.
And no luck.... So I guess that either water has got into them, as I have been riding in the rain alot recently.
So on Sunday morning I am off to Halfords to get the indicator kit and then have a go at fitting them.
In the meantime, I will be having to use hand signals to work and back along 3 motorway networks.

Re: Rear indicators
I doubt its the water matey thats blowing the bulb, It's usually vibration that kills them was the bulb touching the body of the indicator?? if you want ride over Sunday and I'll pop them on for you

Re: Rear indicators
Cheer's Tim.
I'll find that resistor as well.
So for today I have been using arm signals...
Now heres a question for you all, assuming that my right indicator was faulty. I know I can use my right arm, as Stacey was my right indicator on Sunday.
But obviously I still need to control the bike.
Am I correct in thinking that using the left arm in a circular motion can be used for turning right?
As I have been looking at p103 of the revised 2007 Highway Code.
And the rightarm in a circular motion for car drivers depicts that you intend to turn or stop on the left, so therefore it would assume that what you do with one arm will be the opposite with the other?

Rear Indicators
Lee,
The pictures in the highway code at www.direct.gov.uk 'signals to other road users' show a biker in lovely dayglow with their right arm out for a right turn!
Not very safe, but if it's in the book you will be alright to use it. Hope you get the indicators fixed soon.
